On Friday night, the latest 2021 WSOP Online Circuit Series kicked off with the Caesars Atlantic City Online Circuit Event, which will offer over $1 million in guarantees from May 14-25 via a dozen gold ring events.
On Friday the series began with Event #1: $50,000 GTD PLO BIG $500, which attracted 67 players who rebought 47 times. That resulted in a $53,238 prize pool paid out to the top 15 finishers.
Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were recent PokerNews Podcast guest Jared “darrensrabbi” Jaffee (10th - $1,043.46), Matt “Nitr0” Affleck (12th - $1,043.46), and 2020 WSOP.com Player of the Year YK “luckyspewey1” Kwon (14th - $851.80).
After five and a half hours of play, it was New Jersey’s Daniel “juice” Buzgon defeating Hung “nowitsover” Truong in heads-up play to win the title for $12,936.83 and his eighth career gold ring.
"Obviously, it feels amazing to win four rings in as many months, but this one feels a little extra special because it came in PLO, a game which I just don’t play often," Buzgon told PokerNews. "The structure was pretty quick with two tables to go and everyone was really short aside from the chip leader. I ran really well at the final table and was able to come back from a decent chip disadvantage heads up to snag the ring."

Four Months, Four Rings
Buzgon’s run began back on February 24 when he topped a 281-entry field to win the WSOP Online Planet Hollywood Circuit Event #8: $50,000 NLH Knockout Freezeout for $14,896.92. Two days later, he prevailed over a 261-entry field to claim another ring in Event #10: $75,000 GTD NLH Big $500, good for $24,840.57.
A month later on March 27, he followed his two-win performance up by besting a 476-entry field to win the WSOP Online Silver Legacy Circuit Event #9: $125,000 GTD NLH Double Stack for $24,418.80.
Those wins combined with his latest in the Caesars Atlantic City series brought his total ring wins up to eight. He has two other online victories – one from 2018 and the other 2020 – as well as a pair of live wins both from the 2017 WSOPC Harrah’s Atlantic City stop.
For those who want to see how Buzgon captured his latest ring, Jesse Fullen was on the call streaming the action on the PokerNews Twitch channel.
PokerNews will be streaming more action from the WSOP Caesars Atlantic City Online Circuit Event with the next one scheduled for this Sunday, May 16 from Event #3: $150,000 GTD NLH Monster Stack.
