Day 2 Recap

From the four starting flights a total of 178 players returned for Day 2. Among them were four partypoker pros, the first of which to go was Matthew Staples who despite his early elimination still managed to turn a $500 satellite into a $11,217 payday.

Joao Simao had moved up the chip counts, and set the pace early as the eliminations began to mount. Adrian Mateos, Mustapha Kanit, Mike Watson, Mark Radoja, Niklas Astedt and Joao Vieira were all sent to the rail, all in the money but left dreaming of what might have been.

The chip lead was taken over by Iaroslav Bogaev who stormed up the leaderboards to sit with over 13 million chips. However, as the saying goes, a candle that burns twice as bright, burns half as long and he was gone before the next break.

partypoker Ambassador Jeff Gross was unfortunate to be eliminated when his pocket kings were cracked by Steven van Zadelhoff, while Mikita Badziakouski was the beneficiary of a double elimination to stay in contention.

Suddenly, Vlad Darie stormed into the lead after eliminating two players in quick succession. With two tables remaining, he moved well ahead of the chasing pack and looked content to control proceedings from his lofty perch.

Play remained cautious as the final table approached as Darie extended hisc hip lead to almost 70 million. However, his stack would be trimmed somewhat, while David Peters' burst into life. He doubled twice and eliminated Fabian Quoss to secure a surprise second place in the chip counts ahead of tomorrow's final table.
