This week's Big Shot 109 Main Event saw a total crowd of 966 players compete, comprised of 784 unique players who purchased 182 re-entries between them. Brazil's "equalize1" was one of the entrants. They were the last player standing, their first-place finish coming with $15,480. Here's how the final table went down.

8Chris "MAKKAPAKKK" JohnsonUnited Kingdom$1,940

The average stack size at the start of the final table was 32 big blinds, and the players were tightly packed, with the shortest stack containing 21 big blinds and the chip leader, "Farrugia_1," holding 58 big blinds.

"Talgat1" was the ninth-place finisher. They slowed played pocket kings by flat-calling an under-the-gun min-raise from "VincentMX," flopped top set, but ultimately lost to a straight. That hand left Talgat with slightly more than five big blinds. Talgat1 let that stack dwindle to only two big blinds, which went into the middle from the big blind with eight-five and lost to the ace-queen of "Biaioana14."

The 2022 GUKPT Leeds champion Chris "MAKKAPAKKK" Johnson was the next to fall. A mixture of poor starting hands and being situation dead left Johnson on less than ten big blinds. He open-shoved from the cutoff with ace-nine only to run into the pocket kings of Farrugia_1. It just was not Johnson's day.

Seventh place went to Johnson's fellow Brit, "suckmyfish." Farrugia_1 opened to 2.4 big blinds from late position before calling the 10.5 big blind three-bet shove from suckmyfish. Farrugia_1 turned over ace-jack, suckmyfish showed king-queen, and the five community cards did not come to the all-in player's rescue.

"Kingartur1" crashed out in sixth after losing a coinflip with Nick "PKaiser" Fierro. Kingartur1 open-shoved for a shade over five big blinds with pocket sixes on the button, and Fierro called with ace-nine. Fierro flopped a nine and turned an ace to send the Armenia-based grinder to the sidelines.

The field became smaller when Biaioana1 fell by the wayside in fifth, despite them being the chip leader at the start of five-handed play. First, they lost a massive pot with pocket jacks against the pocket kings of equalize1. They then lost all by 4.5 big blinds by calling off a large river bet with top pair on a draw-heavy board, only to lose to the flush of VincentMX. They found aces the next hand and moved all in. equalize1 called with queen-jack, flopped top two pair, rivered a boat, and Biaioana14 went from hero to zero in the space of three hands.

The dangerous Fierro was the next to fall, much to the delight of his former table mates. Fierro raised to 10 big blinds, leaving only 5.5 blinds behind. Equalize1 called on the button, and VincentMX made what turned out to be a great fold with pocket jacks in the big blind. The flop came down ten-high, and Fierro put the rest of his chip in. Equalize1 snap-called and revealed a pair of kings in the hold, which had Fierro's jack-ten crushed.

Heads-up was reached when VincentMX bowed out in third. Farrugia_1 limped in from the small blind, setting a trap with pocket queens. VincentMX took the bait and ripped in 8.5 big blinds with ace-trey, and Farrugia_1 called. The board ran out with no drams, and VincentMX was gone.

Equalize1 held a 55.5 big blind to 34.5 big blind chip lead over Farrugia_1 going into the one-on-one section of the Big Shot 109 Main Event. However, Farrugia_1 fought back and briefly climbed to the tree's top. Once equalize1 regained the lead, they never let it slip.

The final hand took place two hours into the final table's action. Farrugia_1 min-raised with jack-five and equalize1 called with the dominating jack-ten. The four-ten-five flop saw equalize1 check and Farrgugia_1 check behind. Another ten landed on the turn and equalize1 bet four big blinds, which Farrugia_1 called. Equalize1 improved to quads on the river, while Farrugia_1 made what would be an expense second-best full house. Equalize1 shoved, and Farrugia_1 called off their stack, which was almost the exact same size as the pot. Game over for Farrugia_1, who won $11,290, and game on for equalize1, who netted $15,480.
