Not everyone is focused on the goings-on at the 2021 World Series of Poker (WSOP) because plenty of poker’s superstars have remained on home soil and are grinding online poker tournaments.
Malta-based Dutchman Steven van Zadelhoff is one such player who has not flown out to Las Vegas, Nevada. van Zadelhoff’s decision to remain in Europe paid off on October 10 when he finished first from a field of 492 in the $1,050 Sunday High Rollers Main Event at GGPoker.
The former PokerStars WCOOP Main Event champion was part of a three-handed deal at the business end of the tournament. Estonia’s Ranno "RukKuRuku" Sootla finished third and banked $80,519, almost $15,000 more than the $66,263 Igor Ursel collected for his second-place finish. The night belonged to van Zadelhoff, however. He came out on top for the title of champion and $85,951 in prize money.

Another Six-Figure Score For Martirosian
Artur Martirosian continued his impressive form by helping himself to the $140,355 top prize in the $1,050 GGMaster High Rollers tournament on October 10.
Some 857 players bought into the event, leaving a $143,000 overlay on the $1 million guarantee. Martirosian took full advantage of the added prize money, bulldozing his way to victory over a star-studded final table.
Frank "PieOMy" Lillis was the first of nine finalists to bow out. Lillis’ ninth-place finish came with a $15,393 prize.
"Make me smile" and Mikhail "zyxel777" Aleksandrov were next to fall before "MoinsNotHot" departed in sixth place.
Ivan "Negriin" Vilchez and Daniel Dvoress joined the list of busted players, the latter scooping $61,273 for his efforts and fourth-place finish. New Zealand's "Kauboii" busted in third for $80,711, leaving Martirosian heads-up against "The EDUCATOR" of Brazil.
No deal was struck despite the near $35,000 difference between first and second place. This meant Martirosian banked $140,355 when he defeated his final opponent, resigning the runner-up to a $106,474 consolation prize.
