David Peters is an American poker player and four-time WSOP bracelet winner. As of June 2022, he sits sixth on the all-time money list with almost $40 million in career earnings.
His most recent bracelet victory came in 2022 when he won Event #2: $100K High Roller Bounty for over $1.1 million.
Biography
Like many of his peers, Peters started playing poker after seeing Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. Peters drew inspiration from Moneymaker who was an amateur who took on the pros in their backyard and walked away a world champion.
Peters first cut his teeth in the online poker world, starting with freeroll tournaments. He won a freeroll for $600 and it proved to be the catalyst for a title-filled career that has seen him win more than $6.5 million from online poker tournaments and more than $39 million from live events.
Known for his quiet, unassuming demeanor at the tables, Peters is one of the best poker tournament players to have ever picked up cards and chips. Ten of Peters' live results weigh in at more than $1 million! His largest score came in 2016 when Peters finished second to Fedor Holz in a $200,000 buy-in Triton Super High Roller Series event in the Philippines; he banked $2,699,752 as part of a deal with Holz.
The man from Ohio has four WSOP bracelets on his long list of poker accomplishments. The first came in 2016 in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event with his second and third bracelets coming from the online poker world in 2020 and 2021.
In 2021, he also won back-to-back U.S. Poker Open Championships.
With the WSOP's move from the Rio to Paris and Bally's in 2022, Peters picked up his fourth bracelet in the first open event of the summer with victory in the $100,000 High Roller Bounty.
