Timothy Adams is a Canadian professional poker player hailing from Burlington, Ontario. Adams focuses primarily on poker tournaments and currently occupies second place in the Canadian all-time money list, trailing only the legendary Daniel Negreanu.
Adams is the model professional poker player who goes about his business in a quiet yet deadly efficient manner. He began his poker tournament career playing low-stakes tournaments and his continued success allowed him to build a bankroll and climb up the game's stakes.
The Canadian's first recorded live cash came in May 2007 when he finished fifth in a $340 buy-in tournament in the United States for $3,765. These days, it is not uncommon to discover Adams competing in $250,000 buy-in tournaments.
Adams' first six-figure prize came in July 2012 when he finished seventh in a $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). His first score in excess of $500,000 came in August 2016 when Adams was the third-place finisher in the €50,000 Super High Roller at EPT Barcelona; he won €597,500 ($676,915).
The first of Adams' five seven-figure scores came in March 2019 when he won a Triton Poker Super High Roller Series event in Jeju, South Korea for HK$27,760,500 ($3,536,550). Adams followed up that impressive result with a victory in the A$250,000 Super High Roller Bowl Australia for A$2,160,000 ($1,446,112) at the 2020 Aussie Millions.
Adams has a single WSOP bracelet to his name, which he won in 2012. He came out on top in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Four-Handed event and secured a $392,476 prize in addition to a gold WSOP bracelet.
