Jareth East's Main Event Story
Six years ago, PokerNews interviewed Jareth East after his first trip to the WSOP in 2014. "I had the best time of my life there," he said at the time. "I fully intend to return every year until I am on death's door."
The following year, East returned to the WSOP and made a deep run in the Main Event, finishing 293rd for $ 29,329.
Now he's made an even deeper run, and is through to the WSOP Main Event final table.
"It doesn't feel real," he told PokerNews. "I've watched every single Main Event Final Table for the last seven years. You just dream to be there and now I'm here my mind is a bit scrambled. I'm buzzing and shattered at the same time. It's amazing."
Like many Europeans, he joined the final flight of the Main Event and bagged a comfortable stack from which he never looked back.
"I joined the last flight after the dinner break. Had a really easy table and finished the day on 200k. The next day was another easy table, so plain sailing. Once we got to the bubble I had a massive stack so I picked up a lot of chips there"
The professional poker player and crypto trader had one wish for the final table: "I hope I run good!"

Jareth East Key Hands
It wasn't always plain sailing for East, especially as the field began to shrink.
"On Day 5 I was down to 500,000 which was ten big blinds at the time, but I finished the day on 6.5 million so I spun it right back up. That was the only time where I was feeling like I was going home. But since then the last couple of days have been a blur."
As the final table approached, East said his Day was a "rollercoaster." Starting the day with 13 million, he swung back and forth from the heights of 27 million to as low as three million. Eventually he bagged 8.3 million and is the table short stack.
He stayed alive thanks to two late doubles, both through Ark Onikul, allowing East to make it to the final table and see Onikul eliminated in 12th place.

What to Watch For
All eyes at a final table, especially the WSOP Main Event final table, are on the short stack as they try to battle back to win in fairytale fashion. For East, he's set his sights firmly on victory.
"The payjumps are pretty small now," he said. "There's 100k for the lower ones. I'll just be going for the win. I won't be afraid to get all my chips in. I'll be going for it."
