The RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) is currently at JACK Cleveland Casino in Ohio for the very first time. The RGPS Cleveland features a $800 buy-in RGPS Cleveland Main Event with a $250,000 guarantee, a tournament that will be live reported here on PokerNews.
The RGPS Cleveland stop, which runs Sept. 22-Oct. 2, also features over $500,000 in guarantees and a handful of side events that will see the winners taking home Championship Rings, which were recently reintroduced by RGPS.
On Tuesday night, one of the world’s biggest reality TV stars took down the $200 Guest Ambassador Bounty Ring Event. “Boston” Rob Mariano is arguably the biggest star to come out of the hit CBS television show Survivor (he’s appeared on six seasons) and has also appeared on Amazing Race, The Price is Right, and most recently Season 2 of Secret Celebrity Renovation.
Surviving a Poker Tournament
The tournament attracted a field of 206 runners including a slew of “celebrity” bounties who competed for a $32,960 prize pool. Participants could knock out a bounty and draw a mystery envelope with prizes from $50 gift certificates up to $2,000 cash!
Along with Boston Rob, some of the other bounties included RGPS Ambassador Justin Gardenhire, 2022 WSOP $10K PLO bracelet winner Sean Troha, and Katie Kopp, the first-ever winner of a gold bracelet at the WSOP’s new home at Paris/Bally’s.
By outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting the field, Boston Rob kept his own bounty, received $8,615 in prize money, and claimed an RGPS Contenders ring.
It’s not the first time Boston Rob has ventured into the poker world. On the contrary, he’s been a familiar face for a while. Last year, he participated in the RGPS All-Stars ProAM in Las Vegas, and in 2015 he bubbled the Run It Up (RIU) Reno Main Event final table. A year later, he actually won the second event at RIU Reno.
