Stoyan Obreshkov Leads the Way Entering Day 2 of the partypoker WPT Online Main Event

Day 1b of the WPT Online Series $3,200 Main Event on partypoker attracted a total of 394 entries to bring the total field size up to 915 entries when taking into account the 521 entries on Day 1a.

The tournament's $3 million guarantee is likely to be smashed with Day 1c taking place today just before the start of Day 2.

Both of the starting flights of the Main Event played down to just 15 percent of the field, which left 58 players still standing at the end of Day 1b. Bulgaria's Stoyan Obreshkov not only bagged the biggest stack on Day 1b with 4,555,237 in chips but will head into Day 2 as the overall chip leader, miles ahead of Day 1a chip leader Connor Drinnan.

Obreshkov has found recent success at partypoker. In April, the Bulgarian made a heads-up deal with Pavel Veksler in the 2021 Irish Open Main Event where he finished in second place for €224,769.

Meanwhile, Yuri Dzivielevski (3,779,407) and Johannes Straver (3,448,855) will also head to Day 2 from the Day 1b field with more than 3 million in chips while partypoker Ambassador Joao Simao (2,076,678) bagging the sixth most chips on Day 1a.

partypoker Ambassadors

partypoker Ambassador Mikita Badziakouski already punched his ticket to Day 2 during Day 1a and we already mentioned that Simao did the same on Day 1b.

Others gave it a shot on Day 1b but failed to advance. Joni Jouhkimainen was one of the late casualties on Day 1b just finishing outside the money in 62nd place.

Meanwhile, fellow ambassadors Dzmitry Urbanovich, Kristen Bicknell, Jaime Staples, Dayane Kotoviezy, and Patrick Leonard were also in the mix on Day 1b just to come up empty-handed.

Simon Mattsson Leads the WPT Online Series Event #38: $10,300 High Roller

A total of 101 players entered the WPT Online Series Event #38: $10,300 High Roller to generate a $1,010,000 prize pool, and after just under six hours of play on partypoker, only 17 players remain in with a shot of the title.

Leading the way is Sweden's Simon Mattsson with Alex Foxen close behind.

Mattsson finds himself in familiar territory as last week he was the Day 1 chip leader with 17 remaining in Event #23: $10,300 WPT High Roller. He went on to win that event for $249,741 and time will tell if he can do the same this week.

partypoker Ambassador Kristen Bicknell also advanced and will start Day 2 in 11th place.

partypoker Ambassador Update

While Bicknell advanced, the same didn't hold true for the rest of the partypoker Ambassadors that battled it out on Day 1 with Isaac Haxton, Mikita Badziakouski, Joni Jouhkimainen, and Joao Simao all swinging and missing on the opening day.

The remaining players will return at 20:05 (BST) on Monday, May 31, 2021, and play down to a winner.
